The brands we carry are doing their part to build a more sustainable future. Here are just a few initiatives and goals from each brand.
Altra
ASICS
- 90% of running shoes in 2022 contained recycled polyester in the shoe's main upper material.
- 22% reduction of CO2 emissions from direct operations compared to the year 2015.
- 26.7% renewable electricity used in business facilities.
- In 2022, ASICS revealed the world's lowest CO2 emitting sneaker - the Gel-Lyte III CM 1.95.
- Working towards 2025 goal to source 100% more sustainable cotton.
Brooks
2022 sustainability numbers:
- Introduced first rubber outsole containing 25% recycled material.
- 67% of textiles in products were made from recycled yarns.
- 42% of material waste was diverted from landfill/incineration.
- 65% of new footwear, apparel, and accessories contained recycled and/or bio-based materials.
- The Brooks Ghost 15 achieved CarbonNeutral product certification.
- 84,339 pairs of shoes were donated to Soles4Souls.
HOKA
- Over 99% of footwear styles contain at least one preferred material (a recycled, renewed, or naturally sourced material.)
- Recycled paper effors have saved over 1.15 million trees since 2016.
- Goal to reduce energy usage in footwear by 25% per shoe by 2030.
- Goal to reduce water usage in footwear by 20% by 2030.
Mizuno
- The new Wave Neo collection has the lowest environmental impact in Mizuno's running history.
- Planted 160,000 trees to offest CO2 emissions from the Wave Neo collection.
- Goal to become carbon neutral by 2050.
- Shoe boxes are made from 100% recycled paper.
New Balance
- Donate 1% of sales from select prodcut lines to support nonprofit organizations working on climate change and protecting public lands.
- Played a leading role in developing the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines in 2017 that serves as a standard industrywide.
- Goal to reach zero waste to landfills by 2025.
- Extending product life through shoe repairs program at New Balance Japan.
Nike
- As of FY23, 64% reduction of GHG emissions in Nike owned or operated facitilies.
- As of FY23, 98% of waste was diverted from landfills.
- Select Nike stores allow customers to drop off used apparel and footwear which will either be donated to nonprofit partners or sent away for recycling.
- Goal to reduce carbon footprint by 63% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050.
On
- In 2022, On used 85% recycled polyester, 94% organic, recycled or petrol-free cotton, and 76% recycled polyamide.
- In 2022, On produced 12% less supply chain emissions than in 2019.
- In 2022, over 90% of the electricity used to power On stores and offices was sourced from renewable energy.
- Cyclon Program: subscribe to Cloudneo shoes at a monthly fee. Once they are worn out, or after 6 months, customers can send back their used pair and get a new pair. This program is On's journey towards circularity.
Saucony
- Footwear with the Run For Good badge have an upper that is 75% organic, recycled, or renewable materials and a sole and midsole that is 50% organic, recycled, or renewable materials.
- Apparel with the Run For Good badge has 50% or more organic, recycled, or renewable materials.
- Shoeboxes are a combination of 100% and 80% recycled paper.
- Goal by 2030 is for everything Saucony makes to include recycled, organic, or renewable materials.
